This print is from a painting commissioned by the Japan-America Society for their annual Cherry Blossom Festival. I attempted to merge stylistics traits of Hokusai and Van Gogh in this depiction of the three varieties of cherry blossom trees that adorn the banks of the Schuylkill River. The Philadelphia skyline looms in the distance, and the sculler is a nod to Thomas Eakins, who famously depicted a sculler from the same vantage point 130 years ago.
